Nearly 32,000 pounds of food has been donated to Omaha’s Siena/Francis House.

Staff at CHI Health Creighton University Medical Center collected the food, and monetary donations, over the past two weeks. Tim Sully, development director for Siena/Francis House, says the donations will feed Siena/Francis House residents for several months.

"This particular food drive is the single largest that we’ll receive this year and every year the med center does this. And so they all make a difference, and this one certainly makes a huge difference to our ability."

Sully says Siena/Francis House serves on average 1,200 meals each day. Last year, the homeless shelter served more than 450,000 meals.

More than $7,900 was also donated to the shelter. The food items will be delivered to Siena/Francis House Wednesday.
