Small plane crashes near Eppley Airfield

Omaha, NE – One person is hospitalized after a small plane crash early Thursday morning at Omaha's Eppley Airfield.

Omaha Police were called to the airport just after 4:30 am for a report that a single-engine plane had crashed in a pond on airport property. Omaha Police Lieutenant Darci Tierney says the pilot, a 36-year-old man from Montana, survived the crash. He was taken to Creighton University Medical Center for observation. There were no passengers on the plane.

The cause of the small plane crash isn't yet known.
