Snow, strong wind could make Thursday commute difficult

The National Weather Service says Thursday morning’s commute could be difficult, with snow and strong wind.

NWS Omaha officials expect winter weather to begin in the Omaha metro area overnight, with rain changing to snow by 9am. One to three inches of snow is expected, with amounts heavier south of Omaha.

Winds will gust up to 50 miles per hour during the day Thursday, creating blowing and drifting snow conditions. The combination of snow and wind will make conditions hazardous.

The storm is anticipated to move out of the Omaha metro area by noon Thursday.
