Omaha, NE – The Iowa State Solar Decathlon Home has moved to its permanent location in Moravia, Iowa.

This Saturday, the public is invited to tour the home, which took 12th overall in the international solar decathlon competition in Washington DC. Rita Corell, President of the Nebraska Solar Energy Society, says a bus will leave the Rosenblatt parking lot at 7:00 a.m. on Saturday to transport individuals to the house. Corell says the tour is geared toward those who want to make their home more energy efficient and lower their carbon footprint. She says the tour will be led by Ulrike Passe, the Faculty Advisor for the ISU 2009 Solar Decathlon Team. Corell says the tour will be, "looking at the green products used in the home. The passive solar and active solar design components used in the home, the architecture and then in the presentation, at the luncheon, Ulrike's going to discuss the philosophy behind solar home decathlon design and what strategies worked for their team, what they would do differently in hindsight, lessons learned and real world applications for the average homeowner."

Corell says a lecture and luncheon are included with the tour. For more information on the solar home tour, the website is nebraskases.org.
