Sprawl: The Kent Bellows Studio Young Artist Exhibition opens Friday, August 3rd and continues throughout the month.
The exhibit is a celebration of the work the students have been doing during the semester. This summer, there were about 50 students at the studio and each one has a piece in the exhibit.
Executive Director Anne Meysenburg says all mediums are represented, including drawing, painting, clay work and urban art. She says the students decide how the exhibit is promoted.
"We always end every semester with an exhibition that’s curated by our critical arts program. Those students spend a lot of time learning about galleries and other ways to showcase artwork. And they spend a lot of time considering kind of a critical review of artwork. And they also curate the end of semester exhibition.”
Sprawl will open with a reception this Friday from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. The Kent Bellows Studio is located at 3303 Leavenworth Street. For more information on the exhibit, click here.
