Summer of Encore Mentoring is underway

The Small Business Association along with AARP is teaming up to present “Summer of Encore Mentoring” events for entrepreneurs ages 50 and older.

Elizabeth Yearwood, Economic Development Specialist with the SBA, says the goal of this program is to train, mentor and engage as many encore entrepreneurs as possible through hosted events.

Yearwood says there will be webinars and training sessions available throughout the summer.

And on August 12th, she says there will be a speed mentoring event where entrepreneurs can meet with experts and receive counseling and advice.

"So it’s going to be 15 minutes sessions and they will go from station to station.  And all of the entrepreneurs will learn about preparing business plans.  They will get basic information to start a business in Nebraska. They will discover available resources in the state and also they will learn how to use social media and marketing to grow start and grow their businesses.  And then they will learn about how to raise capital to start and grow those businesses.”
