Omaha, NE – The first doses of the swine flu vaccine have arrived in the Omaha metro area.
Douglas County Health Department Director Dr. Adi Pour says the nasal spray form of the vaccine against swine flu arrived in Nebraska Monday. The vaccines will be distributed to health care providers.
Dr. Pour says young people ages 2 to 24 will be vaccinated first. Pregnant women cannot get the nasal spray vaccine because it contains live virus. Vaccinations could begin as early as Tuesday.
More vaccine is expected to arrive in Nebraska in coming days. Three people have died in Nebraska from the swine flu.
