Tomorrow, the Douglas County Health Department in partnership with the Child Saving Institute, will offer its second annual Take New Steps event.
Julie Chytil, Health Educator with Douglas County Health Department, says Take New Steps is a student education fair designed with the goal of giving teens information on their educational, vocational and post-secondary opportunities.
She says it’s a great time to get information from a variety of sources in one location.
"Last year it was geared toward youth that were specifically touched by the foster care system because sometimes they don’t have the support system in place to come to such events or talk about continuing education. This year, we’ve opened it up to really any teen that wants to attend. But we still have that special focus of wanting to reach those that have been in the foster care system.”
Take New Steps takes place tomorrow (Wednesday) from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Child Saving Institute, 4545 Dodge Street.
