Tax pilot program aims to help families be financially stable
By Katie Knapp
Omaha, NE – The Financial Stability Partnership and H and R Block are planning to accept 250 families in the pilot program. Partnership spokeswoman Julie Kalkowski says families who qualify for the Earned Income Tax Credit can call the United Way's 211 line to find free tax preparation sites. At those sites, they can set up a savings account when they have their taxes done. Kalkowski says the goal is to help families set up and build savings to help them become more financially stable.
