'Tax Wall Street' candidate fails to make ballot

LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — A Lincoln man who sought to run on the "Tax Wall Street Party" ticket has failed to qualify for Nebraska's U.S. Senate race.

The secretary of state's office announced Friday that the party did not gather enough valid signatures to appear on the ballot.

Dan Buhrdorf says he turned in nearly 5,700 signatures earlier this month. Secretary of State John Gale says less than 4,700 were proven valid.

At least 4,880 were required. In addition, petition circulators didn't gather enough signatures in Nebraska's third congressional district.

Republican Ben Sasse and Democrat Dave Domina are seeking the seat, as are independent cattle rancher Jim Jenkins and Lincoln businessman Todd Watson.
