TD Ameritrade Park Omaha nearing completion

By Katie Knapp Schubert

Omaha, NE – Baseball will be played at Omaha's new downtown stadium for the first time April 19th.

TD Ameritrade Park Omaha was the subject of the March noon forum, held Thursday at the Omaha Press Club. The $128 million, 24,000 seat stadium will be the new home of the College World Series, Creighton University baseball, the Omaha Nighthawks, and concerts.

Rebecca Kleeman is the Public Relations Manager for MECA, the organization managing the stadium. She says TD Ameritrade Park Omaha remains an active construction zone, and the next two weeks will be frantic as employees move in to their new offices there.

The first event at TD Ameritrade Park will be Creighton University's April 19th baseball game against the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. The College World Series begins June 18th. Kleeman says organized tours of the new ballpark could happen this fall.

The Road to Omaha statue, a longtime fixture outside Rosenblatt Stadium, will be relocated to 13th and Cuming Streets outside the new ballpark.
