Terry, Esch to battle again for Second Congressional District seat

By Katie Knapp

Omaha, NE – It's official: Nebraska's Second Congressional District race will be between incumbent Lee Terry and Democrat Jim Esch. Both candidates won their respective primaries Tuesday night.

Two years ago, Terry narrowly defeated Esch and won a fifth term. The two will face each other again in November. Terry says this time, he'll "meet him (Esch) head on" during the campaign. The incumbent Congressman says he wants the campaign to be about issues, and he'll focus on energy independence, making the tax cuts permanent, and improving the economy.

Esch also cites the economy as a major campaign issue. He says the winner of the Second Congressional District should be the candidate who can reach across the aisle and work with members of the opposite party.
