Three Build Nebraska Act road projects in Omaha complete

One of four state-funded road projects in the Omaha metro area is scheduled for completion next month.

Omaha Mayor Jean Stothert, Governor Dave Heineman, and state transportation officials talked about the Build Nebraska Act projects at a news conference Wednesday. Three of the Omaha projects, all interstate ones, are complete.

Mayor Stothert says the projects have improved safety for commuters.

"The state’s commitment to public safety is apparent with the improvements on Interstate 80 and 680 around Omaha. Our city is growing, traffic volume is increasing, and the new construction makes the daily commute safer for everyone who lives here and passes through our city using I-80."

The Build Nebraska Act created a $1.2 billion, ten-year road program. Upcoming projects include the expansion of Highway 75 from Plattsmouth to Bellevue. In the 2020 to 2023 fiscal years, another project would be done on I-80 in Omaha, this one from 24th to 13th Streets.
