Three recognized with Community Development Excellence Awards

Omaha, NE – An Omaha agency that helps low-income families become homeowners is one of three recipients of this year's Community Development Excellence awards. The City of Omaha presented the awards Thursday night as part of National Community Development Week.
Family Housing Advisory Services was recognized for its workshops and programs. Family Housing offers financial counseling, fair housing workshops and education on tenants' rights.
The Nebraska Investment Finance Authority won a Community Development Award for its low income housing tax credit program. NIFA makes the tax credit available to developers who build affordable housing.
The Department of Housing and Urban Development and Brighton Construction were also awarded for their PATH concept home. The home is environmentally friendly and adaptable, but is also designed to be affordable.
