Council Bluffs, Iowa – Council Bluffs' longtime Mayor will get another four years in office.
Tom Hanafan was re-elected Tuesday in a city election that had 12 percent voter turnout. Hanafan received 80 percent of the vote in the Mayoral contest. He was first elected Mayor in 1988.
Hanafan says he'll focus on three issues during his next term. One is financial responsibility. The second is infrastructure. Council Bluffs is in the midst of interstate, street and sewer construction projects. Hanafan says those projects are important to the future of Council Bluffs. He also wants to work on quality of life issues.
Council Bluffs is home to one of Google's major data centers. Hanafan says he hopes that company expands its operation. He also wants to encourage more development of small business.
In Carter Lake, Russ Kramer was re-elected Mayor. Pottawattamie County Auditor Marilyn Jo Drake says there could be a recount in that race.
