Trombonist to perform with Young Lions All-Star Band in Lincoln.By KIOS
Omaha, Nebraska – The Nebraska Jazz Orchestra presents the third concert of its 2007-2008 series of events featuring world-renowned trombonist, Matt Niess with the talented 2008 Young Lions All-Star Band, Wednesday, January 16.
Matt Niess has appeared as a soloist, clinician, and adjudicator at numerous jazz festivals, universities and schools throughout the country. These venues include The Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic, Disney World, Disneyland, IAJE, ITA, MENC, PMEA, VMEA, ETW, University of Las Vegas, University of North Texas, University of Wisconsin at Whitewater, University of Kentucky, University of Texas at Arlington, Augustana College, Mary Washington College, University of Nebraska at Omaha, Towson University, Shenandoah University, Longwood College, Susquehanna University, West Chester University, University of Tennessee, Shepherd College, University of West Virginia, and James Madison University.
As a sideman, he has performed with Ray Charles, Natalie Cole, The Temptations, Joe Piscopo, Diane Shuur, Joan Rivers, Merv Griffin, Mel Torme, Frank Sinatra Jr., The Four Tops, The Ink Spots, The Mills Brothers, The Manhattan Transfer, Shirley Jones, Pia Zadora, The Smithsonian Masterworks Orchestra, The Rob Parton Jazz Tech Big Band, The Gene Krupa Orchestra, Slide Hampton and The Metropolitan Jazz Orchestra.
The concert will be held Wednesday, January 16, at the Embassy Suites Hotel, 1040 P Street in Lincoln, Nebraska at 7:30 p.m. Priority seating for season ticket holders and Jazz Club members is at 7:00 p.m., with general admission seating beginning at 7:15 p.m. Single admission tickets are $20 for Adults, $17 for Seniors and $10 for Students and may be purchased by contacting the Nebraska Jazz Orchestra business office at (402) 477-8446 or njo@artsincorporated.org.
