UCLA Baseball Coach Laments Final Loss in Omaha

courtesy NCAA

The College World Series is down to five teams after Tuesday night's elimination game at TD Ameritrade Park.  The winning team Tuesday night is well-acclimated to Omaha.

Having trouble getting somewhere in Omaha?  Ask Florida State baseball coach Mike Martin for directions.  In his 15th trip to the College World Series with the Seminoles, Martin probably knows the area as well as anyone. John Savage, on the other hand, can't get enough of Omaha.  He's the UCLA coach and they're heading home after a 4-1 loss Tuesday night.

"I just cannot say thank you enough to the people," said Savage.  "To the people inside the stadium, outside the stadium, the restaurants, to the hotel, the bus drivers, the doctors.  It's an unbelievable feeling."

Neither UCLA nor Florida State has ever won the College World Series.  Now the Seminoles are the highest remaining seed.  They'll play Arizona Thursday night.
