Union Pacific has two locomotives has a special exhibit on display at the College World Series

By Cheril Lee

Omaha, NE – Union Pacific has two locomotives on display during the College World Series.

Spokesman Mark Davis says one is a state of the art diesel locomotive on view as well as Number 844, U.P.'s steam locomotive. He says Number 844's distinction is that it's never been retired from the railroad's active locomotive roster. Davis says once the College World Series wraps up, the steam locomotive will be headed back to Cheyenne, "Not only does the locomotive celebrate railroad history and heritage but also the close ties that railroads had with baseball. A lot of the earlier years, the teams would travel by train and in some cases; the schedules for the games were dictated by the railroad schedules so it's kind of come full circle. And so we felt that it would be a good opportunity to give back to the community as well as everyone that's coming to CWS "

Union Pacific's locomotive display is on view daily from 10 to 7 during the College World Series.
