United Way Awards $50K to Partnership 4 Kids

Partnership 4 Kidsrecently received a $50,000 grant from the United Way of the Midlands.

Deb Denbeck, President of Partnership 4 Kids, says the organization’s main goal is helping kids get to college.

Denbeck says P4K works with 22 schools in OPS, in Northeast and Southeast Omaha.

Denbeck says the grant will help Partnership 4 Kids offer more than 5,000 low-income and at-risk students the support they need to achieve some form of post secondary education.

She says P4K was excited to receive the grant.

"This is our first time ever to receive funding from the United Way.  We are really under the jurisdiction of their classroom readiness area and they are really looking at, in particular, children that are in poverty.”

Denbeck says the grant money will be used to help support students by teaching them how to set goals and providing them with mentors.

For the past three years, Partnership 4 Kids has maintained a 100% high school graduation rate.  Of those who graduated, 93% enrolled in some kind of post secondary education.
