The University of Nebraska’s Board of Regents meets tomorrow at 9:30 starting with committee meetings. The board meeting follows at 1:30.
NU President Hank Bounds, who was recently installed as the university’s seventh president, will give remarks in the morning.
Bounds says the proposed 2016-17 operating budget includes investments in four priorities: students, research, partnerships, and people.
He says the budget proposal includes a 2.5 percent tuition increase which is one of the smallest in the last 30 years.
"Overall it is a conservative budget that helps us to advance the needs of both the university and the state of Nebraska. But more importantly, it sets pricing at a place that allows every student in this state who wants to get an education at the University of Nebraska to do so.”
Bounds says the budget also includes a 2.5 percent increase in the salary pool for non-unionized employees that will be distributed on the basis of merit, as well as a $3 million pool that will address targeted salary competitiveness issues.
All meetings are open to the public. Meetings are also streamed live at www.nebraska.edu.
