UNMC enrollment reaches record high for sixth consecutive year

By Cheril Lee

Omaha, NE – The University of Nebraska Medical Center's enrollment is up for the sixth consecutive year.

Dr. Rubens Pamies is Vice Chancellor at UNMC. He says there are a total of 3,486 students enrolled for the 2010-2011 school year, a 7.7 percent increase from last year. Dr. Pamies credits the quality of the staff and programs as well as the new facilities where students attend classes. He says the programs at the college have grown even more competitive over the past year. Dr. Pamies says, "What's been good about the increase in the applications we've been getting is the increase in the quality of the students who are applying." He says this will mean better healthcare providers for the state of Nebraska and the country as a whole.

UNMC had an enrollment increase in all three levels of study: undergraduate, graduate and professional.
