UNMC opened an office in China late last month. DJ Thayer is Director of International and Domestic Business Affairs for UNMC.
He says the office is the result of nearly 10 years of work and collaboration with some of the leading universities and hospitals in China in areas such as radiology, bone marrow transplants, and student/faculty exchanges.
Thayer says the new office opens the possibilities for future collaborations.
"UNMC is consulting and helping the change and shift in China that’s occurring where they very much want Western-style hospital facilities and Western-style clinics. More importantly, consulting with them on what is the patient experience from a Western perspective.”
Thayer says the new generation of Chinese want the Western-style approach to healthcare, which focuses more on innovation and uses technology.
UNMC-China is a subsidiary of UNeMed corporation, the technology transfer and commercialization office for UNMC.
