The UNO Art Gallery is displaying selected works from KHN

The UNO Art Gallery is currently displaying a collection of art works by individuals who were artists-in-residence at the Kimmel Harding Nelson Center for the Arts in Nebraska City.

Denise Brady, Gallery Coordinator, says the center has been bringing artists to their residency program for 16 years.

She says over the years, many artists who have gone there have donated their works.  So, the center began organizing the pieces in a way they could send them out for exhibition.

Brady says the pieces on view at UNO are a selection of works from this exhibit.

"The artists who go there are visual artists, composers and writers.  And they’re provided with a space to live and work for short periods of time sort of to break away from their lives and focus on their artwork.”

Brady says many of the works are small but range across a broad spectrum of media, including photography, ceramics and documentation of installations and time-sensitive work that took place in Nebraska City.

She says they are also playing the works of seven of the composers who were there over the years.

On Thursday, September 14th, from 7 to 8 p.m., the gallery will host a special presentation with KHN Director Holly McAdams and current KHN artists.

For gallery hours and information, the number is 402-554-2796.
