UNO Community Engagement Center Seeking Partners

UNO’s new Community Engagement Centerwill open in late February or early March of 2014.

Sara Woods, Assistant to the Senior Vice Chancellor for Community Engagement, says the center will allow UNO to broaden its outreach to the greater Omaha area by expanding its service learning and community service activities.

Woods says the center will also enable the university to expand its research, teaching and community efforts.

She says applications are being accepted this month from organizations that would like to share space in the Community Engagement Center.

"We hope they will be able to take advantage of our student and faculty resources on campus. Perhaps they will invite a service learning opportunity or have a student intern or maybe coming and speaking to university classes about their projects or their organizations and what they do. They’ll give and they’ll receive at the same time.”

Woods says organizations that may apply include nonprofit, government and educational institutions.

All applications must be submitted by August 31st. Woods says organizations will be selected by the end of October.
