UNO department awarded grant to establish entrepreneurship course for veterans

By Katie Knapp Schubert

Omaha, NE – The Nebraska Business Development Center plans to create a new program for veterans and active duty military personnel interested in starting a small business.

NBDC State Director Bob Bernier says the $100,000 grant from the Small Business Administration will be used to establish a course on entrepreneurship. It'll be an online course, so active duty service members deployed in the Middle East or elsewhere can still take the class.

Bernier says the online course should be available in May or June. A NBDC consultant and Army veteran at Chadron State College is designing and will be teaching the class.

For more information about the program log on to nbdc.unomaha.edu. The NBDC is part of UNO's College of Business Administration.
