UNO Political Science Professor weighs in on upcoming election

Paul Landow, a Political Science professor at UNO, says this year’s election may well bring more people out to vote.

He says the talk around town is that more people are interested in voting especially with three fairly competitive races for US Senate, Governor and the 2nd Congressional District.

Landow says it’s good to vote early to eliminate the possibility of running into problems at the last minute that might preclude you from voting.  He says it’s also good to check out all the races.

"A lot of the races further down the ballot are exciting and important and the voters should definitely take time to become aware of those races.  Everybody knows what’s going on in the Governor’s race and Senate race but a lot of the county board races, state legislative, etcetera, are really important and have excellent people running.”

Landow says the polling he has seen shows a pretty substantial margin in favor of increasing the minimum wage.

The General Election is Tuesday, November 4th.  The polls are open from 8-8 that day.  Details are available online at votedouglascounty.com.
