Omaha, NE – The 2010 Latino Heritage Month celebration starts tomorrow at UNO.
UNO's Assistant Director for Cultural Programs says the opening event is a cultural fair featuring dance groups, food, and poster board presentations. Valerie Thompson says the focus this year is Latinos in the United States. She says the goal of Latino Heritage Month is to increase dialogue and the global perspective of students and the public in general. Thompson says there are studies that indicate that when students participate in these types of events, they typically find more value in their university experience.
Thompson says the cultural fair takes place from Noon to 2:30 tomorrow in the Student Center on campus and is open to everyone. A complete list of events is available online at studentorgs.unomaha.edu, under the calendar of events.
