Omaha, NE – University of Nebraska-Omaha students return to class Monday.
Two groups of incoming Freshmen spent Friday volunteering at the Hope Center for Kids and the Omaha Children's Museum. The community service projects are a part of the university's Durango Days, which welcomes new students to campus and helps them transition into life at UNO and in Omaha.
Kellie Pickett, Coordinator of the Thompson Learning Community, says UNO doesn't have a community service requirement for its students. But Pickett says more UNO students are choosing to volunteer.
