Omaha, NE – UNO officials launched the text messaging notification system last fall. It allows for instant notification via text message or e-mail of an emergency or weather event. Tim Kaldahl of University Relations says the system is efficient and sends out notifications within seconds. The text messaging system has been used once this winter, to notify the campus community of winter-weather related delays. Kaldahl says right now 1,500 people are signed up for the service, but he anticipates that figure will grow.
