Omaha, NE – UNO will present its 13th annual Batchelder Conference for Biblical Archaeology Thursday through Saturday.

Dr. Rami Arav is an assistant professor in UNO's department of religion and the director of the Bethsaida Project. He says this year's conference celebrates the 25th anniversary of UNO's Bethsaida Excavations Project.

Dr. Arav says the conference will feature 14 scholars from four continents, speaking on a variety of subjects including biblical translation and the political climate during biblical times. Dr. Arav says Bethsaida is an important biblical site.

"It is a biblical site that is mentioned frequently in the New Testament. It is in fact one of the most frequently mentioned sites. It is the place where Jesus performed miracles. And this is a place where three of the disciples of Jesus came from."

All conference events take place in the UNO Thompson Alumni Center. For a complete list of conference proceedings, the website is unomaha.edu/Bethsaida.
