UNO's MavRide program to expand in 2016

UNO is expanding its MavRide program on January second.

Through MavRide, students, faculty, and staff can ride any Metro bus for free with a bus pass. Registration is handled through UNO’s Parking and Student Government divisions. More than 1,000 members of the UNO campus community are registered for a MavRide bus pass.

Starting January second, the UNO community can use their MavCards as a pass. Sarah Burke, UNO’s Sustainability Coordinator, says the move will provide additional transportation options and alleviate parking issues on campus.

The MavRide expansion was part of UNO’s Sustainability Master Plan. Burke says more than 250,000 riders have used the MavRide system since 2011. It was initially just for students, but expanded this year to include UNO faculty and staff.

Students, faculty, and staff won’t have to register for a MavRide bus pass as of January second.
