Urban Thinkers Campus 2.0 registration is underway

The Joslyn Institute for Sustainable Communities is offering its Urban Thinkers Campus 2.0 in August.

Diane Wanek, Director of Communications for the Joslyn Institute, explains the Urban Thinkers Campus is an initiative of the United Nations’ Habitat World Urban Campaign.

She says it was conceived as an open space for critical exchange between stakeholders and partners with aims to promote sustainable urbanization.

Wanek says it’s also seen as a platform to advocate enlightened planning and design of our cities.

She says the campus is meant to address challenges associated with the new demands and stresses on growing cities everywhere.

"Since most of the cities in the Big 10 academic conference are these small to mid-size cities, we thought it would be a great idea to incorporate how universities and the cities within the Big 10 might work together to help solve problems that cities are having.”

Wanek says some of these issues include things like disaster mitigation, transportation and wage inequality.

The Urban Thinkers Campus 2.0 takes place August 24-26 at the University of Nebraska- Lincoln’s Innovation Campus.  More information is available at www.joslynutc.org/utc2.html.
