Urban Village is launching a major Park Avenue redevelopment project

By Cheril Lee

Omaha, NE – Urban Village Development will bring new life to eight buildings along the Park Avenue corridor in Midtown Omaha.

Jamie Grayson is the Director of Community Development for the Greater Omaha Chamber of Commerce. She says Urban Village will take the different buildings and redevelop them into market rate rent apartments. Grayson says the project will help Omaha better position itself as an urban Mecca for all types of people, and create a more diverse, eclectic community in Midtown, "The Park Avenue neighborhood is one of the best neighborhoods in the community and I think a project like this is only going to add to that interesting factor about living there. We really need dense neighborhoods that support public transit and have multiple different income levels and just really create that mixed income, mixed use type of community. And I think this is one of those projects that's going to take us there."

Grayson says construction on the project began a few weeks ago. She says individuals will begin moving into some of the new apartments at the start of the New Year. For more information on the Park Avenue redevelopment project, the web site is destinationmidtown.org.
