UWM's Day of Caring is Friday, October 9th

United Way of the Midlands’ annual Day of Caring will be held throughout the day on Friday, October 9th.

Deidra Andrews, Director of Community Engagement, says the event offers the opportunity for individuals, companies and others to get out in the community and give back in the form of their time and their talent.

Andrews says the Day of Caring will help provide some of the smaller nonprofit organizations, funded through the United Way, a little extra assistance wherever they need it most.

She says there will be a variety of projects that require volunteers.

"They’re going to have cookie making stations at the Omaha Home for Boys.  When they are done, they will be able to create these care packages to give to some of the kids that participate in the program.  There is also an opportunity for some of the outside work like landscaping, composting and winterizing gardens.”

Andrews says volunteers will also be needed to help wash windows, paint and stuff envelopes.

Agency and company team registrations will be accepted until Friday, September 25th when the United Way switches to individual registration.
