Omaha, NE – The VA of Nebraska and Western Iowa has opened a new health clinic.
The Shenandoah, Iowa facility opened Monday. It's the first clinic in southwest Iowa. VA officials say it'll serve the needs of southwest Iowa, northwest Missouri and southeast Nebraska veterans who normally would travel to Omaha for care.
VA spokesman Will Ackerman says the Shenandoah clinic provides primary medical and some mental health services. Ackerman says the clinic is already attracting new patients who otherwise wouldn't have received VA services they qualify for.
The VA also plans to open a clinic at Offutt Air Force Base. A town hall meeting is scheduled for next Tuesday in Bellevue for veterans to learn more about the clinic.
