A Hooper native and former Huskers volleyball standout will be among the players in the Visit Omaha NORCECA Women’s Continental Championship next month.

Teams from nine countries are playing in the tournament, which runs from September 16-21. Team USA plays Cuba and Mexico in the first round.

Jordan Larson, who played on the silver medal-winning Team USA in the 2012 Olympics, will play in the NORCECA tournament. Larson, a three-time All-American at UNL, says she’s excited to return to Nebraska and play in front of a home crowd.

"Honestly, I don’t make it back home a lot with playing overseas and playing with the national team, so it’s awesome that USA Volleyball is coming back to Omaha, and I’m excited to play in front of, basically, a home crowd for me. I’m excited for all the members of the team to kind of see what it’s like to play in Nebraska, because not a lot of people have experienced it, so it should be exciting and I’m excited to see all the fans too."

Teams from Puerto Rico, Canada, St. Lucia, the Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, and Trinidad and Tobago are also playing in the NORCECA Championship. It’ll be played at the Ralston Arena. More information is available at www.omahasports.org.
