The VNA is Awarded Immanuel Vision Foundation Grant

The Visiting Nurse Association was awarded a $15,000 grant from Immanuel Vision Foundation to create a caregiver education program.

Bridget Caniglia, Vice President of Home Care for the VNA, says with the funds, the VNA will put together a formalized series of six educational training sessions.

Caniglia says the series will include real-time information from seasoned caregivers that are working in the home now.

She says these individuals will share their expertise on practices they find helpful or resources they find to be of great assistance.

"We did quite a bit of search to see what kind of formal caregiving courses are out there.  So our hope is to really kind of combine both to look at some things that are already standardized and that are available to the community but also give that real-life spin of, ‘okay, so for instance’ from a VNA perspective, here’s what we face in the community that we are working with.”

Caniglia says the program will be held in the fall of 2016 and the spring of 2017.  She says in its first year, the series will be offered to the families with Immanuel.
