VNA, Easter Seals merge operations

The Visiting Nurse Association and Easter Seals of Nebraska are now one organization.

VNA and Easter Seals merged September first. VNA provides in-home care services. Easter Seals’ programs include rehabilitation, outreach, and training for people with disabilities.

VNA president and CEO Jamie Summerfelt says their group of 30 therapists will be able to provide additional services for people with disabilities. "We are already doing that in people’s homes, obviously with home care with VNA services that have been doing that for, since probably the 1970s, and so I think using those resources we’ll be able to expand possibly in to outpatient services for rehabilitating those with disabilities."

Summerfelt says the VNA is considering expanding its services to Easter Seals office outside the Omaha metro area. He says the merger saves both organizations money and means they can put more resources toward programs.
