VNA Senior Speaker Series Returns Next Month

The Visiting Nurse Association kicks off its Senior Speaker Series on April 9th with “Ten Tips for Better Brain Health."

Mike Alston, Vice President of Marketing and Business Development, says the VNA’s goal with the series is to provide information on different topics to seniors that helps them maintain their independence and age in place at home.

Alston says the featured speaker is Dr. Dennis Dunning, a speech pathologist with the VNA.

"He will cover the different hemispheres of the brain, the effects of high blood pressure on the arteries and then he will get into behaviors that can lead to better brain function.  So when he’s talking about the Ten Tips for example, he would talk about things like nutrition, stress management and mental and physical exercises that can help impact overall brain health.”

Alston says there is no fee to attend the presentation but reservations are required since a complimentary lunch is included.

“Ten Tips for Better Brain Health” takes place Thursday, April 9th from 11:30 to 1 at the VNA Headquarters, 125th and West Center Road.
