The VNA Speaker Series Kicks Off April 7th with "Senior Living Options"

The Visiting Nurse Association kicks off this year’s Senior Speaker Series Thursday, April 7th with a program called “Senior Living Options.”

Cheryl Havekost, RN and BSN from the VNA, is the guest speaker.  She says this topic was specifically requested by individuals who had attended previous VNA programs.

Havekost says there is confusion about the difference between the terms senior living apartments, independent living and skilled nursing facilities.

She says her talk will define what these are and will explain when Medicare will pay for skilled nursing facility care.

"First, we are going to talk about some of the things you can do to age right in place.  If you’re still in your own home, what are some of the resources that are available, what are some of the changes you can make in your environment to make it better, make it easier and make it safer?”

Havekost’s discussion takes place Thursday, April 7th from 11:30 to 1 at the VNA headquarters. The presentation is free of charge but registration is required.
