Volunteer projects available through United Way's "Holiday Helpers"

The United Way of the Midlands can help connect wannabe volunteers with holiday projects in need of help.

Dani Ohlman, Director of Volunteer Engagement, says the program is called Holiday Helpers and is located on the United Way’s website.

Ohlman says agencies have posted projects on that site that need volunteer support during the holiday season.

She says volunteer opportunities include everything from serving holiday meals and organizing toys to caroling and hanging holiday decorations.

Ohlman says it’s not so important what you choose to do but rather that you choose to volunteer at all.

"Volunteerism is such a great thing.  It makes you feel good.  You just walk out feeling great about serving your community.  And really it begins a desire to go out and help again.  So volunteerism, when you do it once, you want to do it again.  It provides a great feeling because you’re helping out others in your community.”

The complete list of holiday projects is located at unitedwaymidlands.org/volunteer.
