Voter Turnout in Douglas County Predicted to be Above Average

The deadline for voters to submit an Early Voting Ballot in person at the Election Commissionis 5:00 p.m. today.

Dave Phipps, Douglas County Election Commissioner, says there’s a lot more interest in this primary due to the US Senate and Governor’s races.

Phipps says lots of big names in the races and lots of money being spent definitely drives voter interest.

"Here in Douglas County we are looking at a prediction of 23%.  Surprisingly, as low as that sounds, it’s actually pretty high for a primary election.  We normally are in the 10-15% range so this looks like it will be a little bit busier for us.”

Polls are open from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. tomorrow.

KIOS will bring you coverage of the Nebraska primary election starting at 8 pm Tuesday.
