"WAITRESS" is onstage tonight through Sunday at the Orpheum

Joan Marcus

WAITRESS opens at the Orpheum Theatre tonight and runs through Sunday.

The musical is inspired by the popular Adrienne Shelly film of the same name.

The music and lyrics were all composed by six-time Grammy nominee Sara Bareilles.

The plot revolves around a waitress and expert pie maker, Jenna, who dreams of a way out of her small town and disappointing marriage.  A baking contest and the town’s new doctor could offer her a fresh start.

Larry Marshall plays “Joe”, the diner owner.  Marshall says he loves his character’s spunky nature.

"He has a bunch of businesses so he is successful.  I like that about him, that he’s a successful character.  Also, that he has a hard shell but a soft interior so it’s nice to play the both of them to present yourself.  And then you have somewhere to go with the character.  You’re not just one-dimensional.”

Tickets for WAITRESS are available online at TicketOmaha.com.

This show is recommended for ages 13 and up.
