WATER exhibit at KANEKO explores science and beauty of water

The WATER exhibition at KANEKO opens February 5th and runs through April 23rd.

Mike Echternacht, Chief Operations Officer at KANEKO, says the exhibit offers KANEKO a chance to highlight its multi-disciplinary approach to programming.

They will explore WATER through science, art, innovation and education.  Echternacht says two major themes in the exhibit will be water quality and water productivity.

He says to that end, KANEKO has partnered with a number of local and global organizations to explore the subject of WATER.

"One of our big events will be our Great Minds Lecture Series.  This season we will be bringing in Dr. Tyrone Hayes. He’s a National Geographic explorer.  He studies the effects of Atrazine on amphibians and how that relates to local and global issues, especially surround water, quality and environmental controls.”

Echternacht says the artwork on display will feature different takes on WATER as a medium.  Some artists will explore abstract concepts like water quality.

Some will be more tactile and data-driven. And some will explore WATER as a thing of beauty on its own.

WATER opens at KANEKO February 4th to members and opens to the general public on Friday, February 5th from 6-9 p.m.  For more information, the website is thekaneko.org/water.
