David Brown, President and CEO of the Greater Omaha Chamber, says We Don’t Coast is a new brand and brand story for the Omaha region.

Brown says it recognizes that the city needed to be more explicit about selling Omaha for people who could invest dollars here.

He says the We Don’t Coast brand will tell people around the world what is unique about Omaha as a place to live, work and play.

"When the consultants talked to potential customers of ours and investors or people considering locating here, they asked them what they know about Omaha and they tended to say they had heard good things but can’t tell them what they have heard.  That’s not a recipe for them saying ‘Oh, I really want to live in Omaha. I really want to invest in Omaha.’ We really want them to have a more explicit understanding of who we are, what we are and why we might fit for them as a place for a business or a career.”

Brown says We Don’t Coast is a regional brand, not just limited to the city of Omaha.

He says the chamber expects Council Bluffs, Pottawattamie County, Dodge and Cass Counties to use the brand.

Brown says that’s a unique attribute of this branding process that you won’t find in other communities.
