Website provides resources on health insurance marketplace

The Kaiser Family Foundation estimates 13 percent of Nebraskans are uninsured.

A new website has been set up to help consumers determine insurance options before the health insurance marketplace opens up October 1. The site, www.healthcare.gov, has information on health insurance options and the Affordable Care Act.

Nan Foster Reilly, Consortium Administrator for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services in Kansas City, says consumers can find basic information at the site, or by calling 1-800-318-2596. Reilly says the website and call center have English and Spanish options.

The site also contains information for small businesses and resources about the health insurance marketplace.

Nebraska will participate in a federally-run health insurance exchange, at a cost of $176 million. Iowa will participate in a state-federal partnership.
