Winter Weather Advisory for much of KIOS listening area

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — Several inches of snow are expected across parts of Iowa and Nebraska as a winter storm moves in.

The National Weather Service says up to six inches of snow could fall across southeast Iowa Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. Up to five inches are expected in parts of southeast Nebraska.

A winter storm warning is in effect for most of central and northeast Iowa as strong winds are expected to create blowing and drifting snow. Those winds are expected to hold up through most of Wednesday.

Parts of southeast Nebraska are under a winter weather advisory. Gusty winds also may create blowing and drifting snow.

Officials say low temperatures in Iowa and Nebraska will drop significantly Wednesday and Thursday to near or below zero, creating a bitter wind chill factor.
