Is the World Series the Last Run For Alex Gordon as a Royal?

With Game One of the World Series set to start at 7:07 tonight, the question lingers: Is this the last two weeks that former Husker Alex Gordon will be wearing a Kansas City Royals uniform?

Gordon said he told his agent last spring that once the season started he didn’t want to talk about a new contract for next year and beyond.  After the World Series has concluded, Gordon has the choice of whether or not to exercise a players’ option in his contract.  Or he could elect free agency.

When the Royals were on the brink of elimination against Houston in the division series, Gordon says he wasn’t thinking about the possibility that he was playing his last game for the Kansas City Royals.

“We’ve all been focused on making this a great year and getting to where we want to go,” said Gordon.  “Even in Houston when we had that elimination game.  At home it never really crept in my mind that this might be my last game.”

Gordon was limited to 104 games in the regular season because of a groin injury.
