You can experience the wonders of Christmas at Union Station

By Cheril Lee

Omaha, NE – The Durham Museum's Christmas at Union Station celebration kicked off last weekend with the annual Tree Lighting Ceremony.

The festivities continue Friday with the museum's annual Ethnic Holiday Festival. Shawna Forsberg, Director of Marketing and PR for the museum, says the event is educational for children and gives them the opportunity to see how other cultures celebrate the holidays.

She says there will be craft booths, musical performances and all kinds of food. Forsberg says visitors may also enjoy the Ethnic Holiday Trees exhibit.

"The Ethnic Holiday Trees ties in nicely with the Ethnic Holiday Festival. We work with several different cultural groups that come in and decorate Christmas trees based on traditions from their cultures. So it's a fun way to learn about different types of celebrations and to see some beautiful trees."

The Ethnic Holiday Festival takes place Friday from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. Other holiday events at the Durham include Family Nights with Santa, the Holiday Concert Series and the Holiday Miniatures Exhibit.
