On Your Mark, Get Set, Read!

Last year, more than 24,000 people participated in the Omaha Public Library’s Summer Reading Program.  This year’s theme is On Your Mark, Get Set, Read!

Emily Getzschman, Marketing Manager for Omaha Public Library, says the program is open to all ages.  She says it’s as simple as signing up at omahalibrary.org and clicking on the Summer Reading icon.

After that, pick any book you like and start reading.  Everyone can earn prizes by reading or listening to books for 10 hours.

"And you track your reading time online and once you’ve accomplished your 10 hours, you get your prizes.  For kids and teens, that includes a water bottle, a free book, coupon sheets to all sorts of area entertainment venues, a drawing for a scholarship and they also get a voucher for a Storm Chasers game at the end of July/early August.”

Getzschman says adults who reach their summer reading goals will be entered into drawings to win memberships to local entertainment venues.

For more details on the Summer Reading Program or to sign up, the website is omahalibrary.org.
